THE CAMP

3S Outfitters operates guided hunts in Wyoming from their permitted camp in the Gros Ventre Wilderness area.  The time of operation coincides with the scheduled Wyoming hunting season dates and are species specific. Our camp is owned and operated by Shelby and Trey Scharp.  The camp takes a maximum of 6 hunters, 3 guides, 1 cook, a wrangler, and camp jack. The camp is continually updated and we are proud of the equipment and service we provide.  The camp has 4 guest/hunter tents, a large cook/dining tent, 2 guide and wrangler tents, a shower tent, outhouse, and covered saddle fly tent.  All tents are traditional canvas wall tents.  Each guest tent has a sturdy cot, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, LED lantern, table, and heater.

The guest tents are rustic but extremely comfortable for spending a week in the wilderness.  The cook tent is large and roomy with a large wood stove, comfortable chairs, and a large table. Our season begins the end of August with a Bighorn Sheep hunt.  This hunt is based approximately 2.5 miles from our main camp in a spike camp.  The spike camp consists of a roomy hunter tent, guides tent, covered open cooking area, fire ring.  The horses are tied at night to a high line and graze while hobbled during the day.  The hunter tent is complete with an extra room for gear, cot, sleeping pad, and sleeping bag.  We strive to make your hunting experience in the Wyoming high country enjoyable, and comfortable. All other hunts are based from our main camp.  We specialize in Elk hunts, but also have some nice Mule Deer in the area, and love to accommodate deer hunters as well.
